Marketing your business- Your Pure Romance commercial

*Updated- 30 second commercial is now referred to as your Pure Romance commercial*

This is from PRU-

The formula-
1. Your name.
2. A brief description of Pure Romance. "We are an in-home party plan specializing in romance enhancement products such as lotions, lubricants and bedroom accessories." This gives others a point of reference.
3. What you sell. Explain in a tasteful, yet simple way that Pure Romance sells lotions, lingerie and bedroom accessories. (At our last training session we were advised against using any terminology similar to "and things that go buzz in the night.")
4. Your offer. This is where you need to spend the majority of the conversation. You will want to explain why somebody would want to learn more about Pure Romance- what's in it for them?

Example 1#:
Hi, my name is Heather and I'm a Pure Romance Consultant. Pure Romance is an in-home party plan that specializes in romance enhancement. We sell an exclusive line of lotions, lubricants and bedroom accessories. And just for hosting a party, you could earn up to $100 in free product the night of your party!

Example #2:
Hi, my name is Leanne and I am a Pure Romance Consultant. Pure Romance is an in-home party plan that sells an amazing line of lotions, lingerie and bedroom accessories. Hosting a party is a great way to see and learn about our products, while having a fun girls night in!  I love to spoil my hostesses!  You can earn anywhere from $50-$100 in free product just for hosting a party!

Important points:
Talk about the amount of product a hostess receives and the other benefits of holding a party in a way that people can immediately understand.
You should develop a commercial that you are comfortable with.
Practice saying it so that it rolls off your tongue naturally.
When you have your basic commercial committed to memory, turning an ordinary conversation into a Pure Romance conversation will be easy and natural.

Brand New Enhancement Products!

*Post edited for new wording.  We no longer use 'creams'.  Use the proper wording- Enhancement Products since Amp is a gel.  It's suggested customers start with Boost and work their way up to O.*

Patty just released a video on the brand new enhancement products available in January.  I know a lot of us are super excited to not only start selling them but trying them as well!

Here are my notes on the new products:

Our Pure Romance chemists have developed TriPlex Tingle which is Pure Romance exclusive.  Currently our enhancement creams last about twenty minutes.  These new products will last at least an hour......an HOUR!!!  Each one is more intense than our current line and last much longer- AN HOUR!!!  The sensation starts immediately then builds over time.

Boost- This one is best for first time users, even if they've already been using another enhancement product.  It comes in a variety of flavors.

Pure- For our customers who are sensitive and/or are prone to infections this is the one for them.  It contains no scents, dyes or flavors and is made from all natural oils.

O- This is the most powerful of the products.  For women who are on medication that decreases their drive or for women who deal with low libido issues, this will definitely kick things into gear!  O has the highest concentration of TriPlex Tingle and is also great for men.

Amp- Instead of a cream, this one is a gel.  It's water based so it has a cleaner and lighter feeling.  It starts working faster and has a more immediate sensation.

Get on the phone ladies and get those 2013 parties booked!!!

Mourning chickens.......and being thankful

I learned a very valuable lesson Friday night which my friend and sponsor Karey pointed out to me on our way home from my party.  Never count your chickens before they're hatched.  I'm still in mourning.

My hostess did everything right.  She invited 70 guests, had 50 confirmed, had loads of amazing food (which I didn't get to try), decorated, had some awesome games, had 2 raffles and checked on all the confirmations.  I made sure I had her and the other co-hostess's wish list items so they had them to take home that night.  We were all pumped!

Twenty-three people attended.  Of those, less than half placed an order.  One thing I am grateful for is knowing that it wasn't due to my presentation because Karey was there and helped out a lot.  Oh am I grateful for that!!  This party was planned for over a month and was my second corporate lead.  I was so excited because my first corporate lead party had 15 guests and was my first $1000 party.  I did some quick caluclations and figured with 50 people it'd be about a $4000 party.

Oh the plans I had for that money!!!!  What all I could do with $1200!!!  We're super behind on my daughter's dance tuition so I was going to use some to catch up.  My 15 year old and I want to go to the Twilight marathon on November 15th.  Black Friday is coming up and I would actually be able to spend some money.  I'd been wanting to do a sleep over with guests and consultants in a hotel and was looking up prices.

I brought Karey along because I wasn't sure I could handle a party with 50 guests.  Just before the party started I walked over to her and said, "So much for the 50 guests."  I feel bad that my friend and downline, Sue, had been so sick she couldn't come help like she was going to but was also glad because I'd have had to give her part of my profits for driving 40 minutes each way.  As I stood at the table adding up the party total I was close to tears.  Karey peered over my shoulder and said, "That's it?"  I nodded.  She told me to deal with it later and get with my hostesses to get their orders done.

$374 party.  $148 in profit.  $100 of that had to go to the website I co-founded because I'm this months business sponsor.  I also owe a consultant product I borrowed and was banking on being able to order it all for her.  Plus my biggest and best customer who has spent about $1000 with me since April was hosting a Tastefully Simple party to help her sister get started and I was obligated to purchase something.

I'd been so excited and talked about this HUGE party for weeks on our team page.  The texts started coming in Sunday morning while I was packing up the family to come home from Parent's Weekend at my oldest daughter's college.  I was so grateful it was that weekend because I really needed to have a big distraction. "OMG!  How was your party??  I've been waiting to hear!" was, "It sucked ass."  I handed my phone to my 15 year old and had her reply, "It sucked ass."  (this earned a lovely expression from my husband LOL)

I used to get really excited when a hostess would tell me 15-20 girls were coming.  After the 5th party with less than 10 I lowered my standards.  I used to get excited when I'd walk away with 3-4 girls telling me they'd love to be a consultant.  I have 3 in my downline and none do parties- they're just there to help me get my discount.  I no longer get excited.  But I'm sucking it up and reflecting back on what I've done for the women I've talked to.

It's November, the time for thanks.  I am thankful for the amount of money I make from Pure Romance- every penny.  It's a penny I wouldn't have if I hadn't signed up.  I'm thankful for every hostess that opened up her home to me.  Some were already my friends and some have become friends.  I'm thankful for every guest that has walked through my hostess's doors.  For a couple of hours they were able to get away from their normal daily routine, hang out with the girls, laugh, drink, eat and in many cases, walk away with products to make them feel better or to improve their relationships.  I'm thankful for my Pure Romance sisters who are always there when I need them.  I have three Facebook pages to go to in times of need and four sisters who I know I can text at any time even on their days off.  I'm mostly thankful for my family who do a lot for me to have my business and never grumble when I have to miss important moments in their lives.  My oldest daughter had her wisdom teeth pulled the day before I left to go to National Training.  On our way up there my husband texted me asking for the doctor's number because his lymph node swelled up the size of a golf ball.  Neither asked me not to go or to come home.  My 15 year old never complained about having to take care of her older sister, her dad and her 2 younger siblings.  The little kids were ecstatic to eat McDonald's, pizza and Chinese food for a week.

I learned a lot this weekend.  On our way back from Parent's Weekend I was trying very hard to be thankful for what I had while still grumbling about my party.  This morning, I woke up refreshed (probably due to eating whatever the hell I wanted this weekend and the nice extra large cocktail my husband brought me while I was soaking in my garden tub last night).  I was ready to reflect, let things go (thank you to Patty for those pads of paper from NT!) and be thankful.

We have some pretty awesome parties.  We have some ok parties.  We have some really ass sucking parties.  But we love our jobs and will continue to entertain, educate and empower women whenever we can.

My November Rain of sales

The Guns n Roses November Rain song just popped into my head.  lol

Ok, ladies.  I'm all about sharing and the holidays are coming which is a great opportunity to SHARE!

The biggest share is to share your business.  At BJ's meeting on Sunday she encouraged us to look at sharing the business opportunity as a gift.  Talk to Theresa at the carloop.  Ask her if she'd like to earn some extra shopping money.  Tell her you'd like to give her a gift and offer her the latest kit sale flyer.  If you can, toss in the incentive of gaining $50 in free product if she signs up before the kit sale ends (or $75 or $100, whatever you can afford, or a specific product like a dual vibrator or 2 Coochy and 2 Body Dew, etc).  Like with all gift giving, sometimes people will say "No."  Don't take this personally.  Give her your card and ask her to keep it just in case they ever change their mind.  Also, ask her for her information so you can put her on your VIP list to receive monthly emails about sales, etc.

More sharing- of course you want to share the fabulous party side to your potential hostesses.  Offer extra incentives- double hostess credits, free product, items at your discount, shipping deals, etc.  I tell my hostesses that I create special sales just for their party and type it up so she and her guests can see what great deals they're getting that night.

Here's the big one!  I'm excited to share this idea!!  First, the one I stole from BJ is offering to wrap and send a note to the guests friend, mom, whoever for Christmas.  You can let them know you'll wrap for free then mail it to their mom for them or send it to them if they'd like to personally deliver the gift.  Keep all those little boxes from your shipments to keep hand delivered wrapped presents from getting torn or wrinkled.  Second, I'm sitting down today and making up a calendar of sales.  Some days will be half off shipping, lubes at a discount one day, c-rings at a discount another day, bath one day, etc.  I'm putting the best deals in the beginning so not to tick off clients if they order on the 10% off day then see a 20% off day a week later.  (The monthly calendar will not be posted, it's just for me to remember what sales I scheduled.  You can preload posts on your Facebook page to go out on future dates- awesome feature!)  I will have special Black Friday sales as well and will be encouraging everyone to make sure they keep their Smart Phone handy while they're out shopping so they can see the deals on my Facebook page.

DO WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO DO!!!!!  Don't ever sell yourself short causing you to lose money.

If anyone else has ideas they'd like to share please post them below or on the FB page!!

Thanks so much for reading!

Potential Recruit Packet

This was included in our training packet for PRU in Orlando in September.  I thought it was really helpful not just for seasoned consultants but for newbies as well.

What to Give My Potential Consultant

You will need to make your own Opportunity Packet.  The packet should be fun and effective without overwhelming the potential new Consultant with too much information.  To ensure that you are making the most of your available resources, we recommend using the checklist to help you organize and utilize the proper paperwork in each of your Opportunity Packets.  Pure Romance provides all Consultants with free access to professional and customizable documents.  We have listed all items in the order they should be presented in each packet for better organization.

We ask that you use only the approved and official Pure Romance opportunity paperwork made available to you under the Marketing section online under Recruiting Documents.

What to include when making your Opportunity Packet:
The minimum requirements have an *.  You don't have to add everything on the list.

  • Pure Romance Business Cards (2)   (I recommend using the ones you purchase through Pure Romance Vistaprint and not any free ones you've ordered)
  • *Opportunity Brochure
  • *Latest Kit Comparison (slash through the numbers with any current sale prices)
  • Kit Special Flyer  (if you add this you don't need to slash through the numbers)
  • Pure Romance Consultant Contract Application signed by you as the sponsor (they can fill this out online when they're ready)
  • Pure Romance Contract Agreement
  • *Catalog

FOLLOW UP 72 HOURS AFTER YOU SEND THIS!!!!!!!  Many women are contacting multiple companies and will often go with the one that contacted them first, offers the more information or gets the most attention from a sponsor.  I ran into this lately and was told I offered her a lot more information and contacted her quicker than the lady from the other home plan.  :)

If anyone else has anything to add please let me know!!

Hostess Coaching

These are my notes from last night's conference call.  I missed a few things because I was on a vodka/oj run- sorry!  I did find the call extremely helpful and am looking forward to incorporating the tips into my future coaching.

Thank you to Jessica Brooks-Fleming for taking the time to do the conference calls.  I'm sorry I've missed all the others but after just one, I'm hooked!!

These are sort of in random order- you should see the lovely scraps of paper I was using.  Next time I'll have an actual pad of paper handy!

Jessica uses a hostess sheet that may be somewhere in the documents on the Elite team page.  There's a TON of useful tips in there and when I finish this I'm going to print them out.

Ok, here we go!

Ask your hostess what she wants.  If she comes up with $75 in product, tell her you're going to work to get her $100.  Try to have the products on her wish list on hand for the night of the party- place an order if you need to.

If she says 15 guests are coming, encourage her to get it up to 30.  Let her know you'll offer a *free gift to the guest who brings the most non-invited girls. Let her know she'll benefit greatly with more people and to aim for at least 10 buying guests.

Ask your hostess if it would be easier for you to create a Facebook event or to send out the invitations.  If she's having trouble getting people to confirm, ask her for their phone numbers or emails and contact them yourself.  I loved this tip that Jessica does- she puts a label on the invitations offering a *free gift if the guests RSVP to her.  When she's at the party she calls out the names of those who RSVP'd to her and has them pick an item out of the Sugar Sack.

4 weeks before the party- Send out hostess packets if they don't already have them.  Call and confirm the dates (or text, Facebook, email).  Remind her of any incentives you offered.  Place a sticky note inside the packet asking her to please call you to let you know she received the it.

3 weeks- This is when I was paying for my OJ so don't remember.  Sorry!!

2 weeks- Use the Customer Connection Cards for hostess coaching for items she didn't get on her wish list.  I know there was more to this, too, but I didn't do a great job at taking notes (no, I hadn't been drinking....yet! haha).

1 week- Confirm outside orders.  If she doesn't have any encourage her to get some.  Offer $3 or $5 off for each outside order she gets before the party.  How great would it be to start the party with $100 in sales!?

Day of- Check your GPS to see how long it will take you to get there (totally forgot to do this once and didn't realize the party was 45 minutes away!  Made it just in time!).  Call your hostess and let her know you're leaving and what time to expect you.  This way you'll make sure she'll be there and she knows to keep an eye out for you.  Hopefully she'll call and check on you if you don't show up on time.  Remind her to toss the hubs and kids out before you arrive (my words not Jessica's LOL).

*Free gifts- these don't have to be anything big.  Don't break the bank!  Use a Sugar Sack (or bag, cup, bowl, whatever) and place coupons ($1, $3, $5 off any product or 1/2 off shipping), condoms, or foil packs and let guests reach in and choose one.

After we finished discussing Hostess Coaching we discussed whether or not to accept checks.  Some consultants opt to not accept them at all.  Your policy should be discussed during hostess coaching, in your opening speech and in closing.  If you do accept a check make sure you collect the following information- SS#, DL#, DOB, and 2 phone #'s.  Let the guest know that you'll mail their product as soon as their check clears.  You may also want to mention that there is a $45 return check fee (I highlight this on the order forms- as well as the "All sales final" and shipping cost) plus whatever fees your bank charges.  If you have a returned check and collect the fee, this is yours to keep- but they don't have to know that.  ;)

That's about it!!  BTW, this was my first conference call.  I had a weird sense of fear about them but wish I'd chimed in on the others.  I found out they're very simple.  Here's what to expect- you dial the number,Then follow the directions (if I can figure it out, anyone can).  When the call connects it announces your name so others know you're there.  I wondered if there was a hot mess of a bunch of people talking but it was 98% Jessica going over her points.  Once in a while she'd ask if there were any questions or if we understood.  If you miss the beginning see if she'll let you know who was there from the start so they can fill you in later.  The next call is on November 12th.  Put it on your calendar now so you can try to be available to call in.  Even after just listening to one call I know that these will really help my business and I'm going to make every effort to catch all the future calls.

Paperwork Organization

At PRU training on Monday (9/17/12) Janna offered the following tips which I'm working on right now- yes, this ADD Gemini is multi-tasking (hey, at least I remembered my Adderall today!).

Ok, here we go- label 12 file folders with the months of the year.  Staple all of the order forms from the party with the hostess's on top.  I actually add a sticky note to the top with the date, hostess's name and the order number if I've had to order products- which I have had to do for all parties except for my inventory revelation last night.

Another consultant in attendance, suggested adding a 13th folder for back orders (this will help me GREATLY since I totally suck right now with the whole back order thing).  Note- the ENTIRE packet from the party goes into the back order file so it stays together.

Place your parties for January in the January folder, and on and on and on.

Label 12 envelopes with the months of the year and place these in the corresponding file folders- this is for your receipts.

Previously I had my file folders in alphabetical order by hostesses first names.  This was working well for me because unfortunately I've only had 1-3 parties a month and, at present, I can name all the hostesses.  BUT, I'm making lots of changes which WILL result in me having more partie.  :D

Tried 3x to rotate it grrrrr

When we were discussing this someone asked about remembering when the party was if a guest called you at a later date.  So I printed out a calendar to place in each file folder with the hostesses name on the date the party was held.  This was very depressing for me to do because I had to see how few parties I've held each month.....which actually turned out to be a good thing because it's motivated me to get off my non-calling-crappy-follow-upper-unorganized-getting-organized-lazy butt and make a bigger effort to book more parties.

Because I tend to stick stuff in piles, then pile those piles into more piles, then move those piles to places unknown, I added file folders for order forms, hostess packets and recruit packets (I still need to find a spot for catalogs which I also misplace).  I decided to do this after spending three days looking for my new small order forms that I was really excited about using but couldn't find- they were under a pile of who knows what under some pillows on my bedroom floor (I have no idea how that happened).  So now when I go to restock my bag for a party I know where all of my forms and packets are- YAY!!

Some of you are going to cringe while reading this next part but I promise you I got it now!  Receipts- I'm horrible at keeping them and to make matters worse, I've tossed all my invoices from past orders.  I didn't know I needed to keep them until the day poor Sharee spent over an hour with me on the phone helping me get organized.  I was very proud of myself for keeping my gas and toll receipts from my party last night!  Well, the toll receipts at least.....I think the gas one might be in my wallet.  I'm not sure if the invoices should go in the same monthly file folders with the party orders or in a separate folder so maybe someone can comment and offer a suggestion.  I promise I'll keep them from now on!!

Oh wait!  I just found four of them!  See?  I told you I'm multi-tasking!  I saw a file folder I'd taken out labeled "original sales order sheets."  Not sure why I thought that was a good name for that file but the ones I found.............................................are now safely tucked into the months I received them (unless they're supposed to go somewhere else, then they'll be moved).

So, yes, Christie, I did it.  Your words stuck in my head from Monday night about going home and implementing what we'd learned at PRU and it may have taken me 2 days but I did it!  I still have a few more things to organize but my paperwork portion is finished!!!
